Qualtrics is the preferred survey tool at the University of Minnesota.
Qualtrics is an easy-to-use, full-featured, web-based tool for creating and conducting online surveys. Qualtrics has a range of features to meet both simple and complex survey creation and distribution needs. The University of Minnesota has a license with Qualtrics, and the Qualtrics platform (CoreXM) is free for all students, staff, and faculty. Qualtrics can be used for many purposes:
Research: complex survey design and experimental data collection.
Teaching: evaluations, quizzes with immediate feedback, lessons with branching, et cetera.
Administration: program assessment, event evaluation, feedback surveys, et cetera.
Forms: applications, contact forms, agreements, and collection of uploaded files.
Important Note #1: After you initiate your UMN Qualtrics account, you will always access your Qualtrics account through umn.qualtrics.com.
Important Note #2: In order to keep your UMN Qualtrics account active, you will need to login every two years. Accounts that have been inactive for two or more years will be automatically disabled. If your account is disabled, you can request to enable it by emailing [email protected].
For account-related questions, contact the UMN Qualtrics Brand Administrators at [email protected].
There are three main Qualtrics sites where you can learn more about how to use Qualtrics, with each having a slightly different purpose. Explore Qualtrics’ learning sites.
If you are doing development work and require access to the Qualtrics API, please contact the UMN Qualtrics Brand Administrator team at [email protected] to request API access.
Qualtrics SMS Distributions
Qualtrics SMS distribution is a feature that allows for Qualtrics surveys to be distributed through short message service (SMS) messaging. At this time, SMS credits are offered at no cost to UMN Qualtrics users. To request access to the feature, you must complete the SMS Request Form.
If you already have access to the SMS distribution feature and would like to request more credits, you may do so by filling out the Order Form for SMS Credits. Note: you are required to gain SMS access approval via the SMS Request Form before filling out the Order Form for SMS Credits. If you do not have access to SMS, your Order Form for SMS Credits will be automatically denied.
Qualtrics integration into Canvas through Drieam does have a cost: Drieam licenses are covered by college or department. There is also a fee for the separate Qualtrics instance where Drieam surveys reside (per UIS).
