TDX Knowledge: Unpublish an Article from the Technology Help Website

Sometimes a knowledge article needs to be removed from the Technology Help website but still needs to be active in TDX. For instance:

  • The article might still be relevant but is determined to not be appropriate for a general audience.
  • If an article contains misleading or wrong information, it may need to be temporarily removed from the Technology Help website while it is being reviewed.

  • Note: Unpublishing an article takes until the following business day. If an article needs to be removed from the Technology Help website immediately, contact Technology Help.

This article addresses removing knowledge articles from the Technology Help website. See the following for other situations:

  • When an article has reached the end of its useful life, it should be archived

Remember:

  • Removing an article from the Technology Help website may cause broken links in other articles. If the article will be unpublished for a while, you should Check for Referring Links first.

Unpublishing an Article From the Technology Help Website

Only Global Knowledge Editors can remove a Published article from the Technology Help website. Work with the appropriate Global Knowledge editor to complete this process. 

  1. Search the Knowledge Base for the article.
  2. Open the article and click on the Edit Article button. 
  3. Edit the Content:
    1. At the top of the body of the article, copy and paste the following text:
      This article has been temporarily removed from the Technology Help website until it can be fixed and republished.
    2. Select the text:
      • Change the Font Size to 18.
      • Change the Text Color to red.
    3. Scroll down and click Update Article.
  4. Click the Settings tab. 
  5. Uncheck the Published to KB checkbox.
    Status shows as Approved; Published to KB option unchecked
  6. Click Save. The Details view indicates the article is no longer Published.
    Details; Published:No highlighted

By unchecking the Published to KB setting, the article will be removed from the Technology Help website and it will only be available to technicians in TDX. Note: The article will remain on the Technology Help website until the following business day.
