The Grouper team works with you to build and test your app stems in Grouper. Once that work is done, we hand over the maintenance of your groups to the people on your team you designate as "owners" and "updaters" with expanded privileges in Grouper.
Owner and Updaters in App Tree
The Grouper team sets up Owner and Updater security groups for all app stems. You decide who to add as members of those groups. Members are granted the following privileges and responsibilities:
- Owners and Updaters can view the memberships of all groups in the app stem
- Owners and updaters can add/delete members to the policy groups in your app stem
- Owners can add/delete members to the updater security group
- Owners and/or updaters may perform attestations on adhoc groups in your app stem (see more about attestation)
Updater and Owners in the University of Minnesota Legacy Tree
In the University of Minnesota (legacy) tree, group admins may follow these instructions to grant updater privileges to other users or to groups. We recommend setting up groups for this purpose and adding individuals to the groups.
- Select My groups in the Quick links section of the left navigation. A table is displayed showing all of your groups.
- Select the Group and select the members tab. The group information page is displayed.
- Select the Actions button in the last column for the person.
- If the person isn't a member of the group, select the Add Member button in the top right corner.
- Select Edit membership and privileges. The membership and privileges page is displayed for the person.
- Select Read and Update in the Direct Group Privileges row.
- Select Save. A confirmation message appears in green at the top of the page, and the list of members is displayed.
