About My Work

What I Do

I started with Academic Technology Support Services in February 2013. In my role, I design and develop online, face-to-face, and blended courses and consult with instructors about a wide range of topics pertaining to teaching and learning with technology. I am also part of several University-wide pilots and initiatives that focus broadly on online teaching and learning, such as the Course Content Strategy group.

One of the many enjoyable aspects of working in the edtech field is the opportunity--and need--to understand the changing dynamics of teaching and learning with technology. My professional interests include developing student agency in online courses, designing for participatory and openly networked learning, and understanding the role of instructional designers in the creation of open educational resources.


Prior to joining ATSS, I was with the University of Minnesota's Office of the Vice President for Research. My efforts focused on coordinating an internal certification program and assisting with the development of training for faculty, staff, and students engaged in research.

I am a PhD student in the Learning Technologies program, and hold a Master's degree in higher education administration, both through the University of Minnesota's College of Education and Human Development. I also teach online courses with the Learning Technologies undergraduate minor.

Presentations and Publications

In mid-2018, I completed the Creative Commons Certificate for Educators course and in early 2019, I will be completing facilitator training to teach the certificate program to other educators.

Along with my colleague, Annette McNamara, we have a forthcoming book chapter entitled Creating a Rubric to Support the Development of Authentic Learning Experiences that will be published in mid-2019. We are presenting our work at the 2019 STAR Symposium.

I am a Program Committee member of Designers for Learning, a non-profit organization that crowdsources the design and development of open educational resources to help adults improve their literacy skills for career and college readiness.
