Your android device will automatically find all wireless networks in range. On campus, you will see the following UofM SSIDs (network names): eduroam and UofM-Guest.
University Staff, Student, Faculty, or University Sponsored Account holders should connect to eduroam. Other users should follow the instructions for WiFi: Guest Access.
Connect to WiFi using Android 7.X (Nougat), 8.X (Oreo), 9.X (Pie), 10.X, and 11.X
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Tap Wi-Fi under Wireless & networks.
- Select a WiFi network.
- Most University members should choose eduroam.
- If you do not see the networks shown, ensure that your WiFi is turned on.
- Configure the WiFi connection using the following settings:
- Security: 802.1x EAP
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase-2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA Certificate: Use system certificates
- If this is not an option, select Do not validate.
- After you connect, go back to the connection settings to change this setting to use Use system certificates.
- Domain: netaccess.umn.edu
- You can also try wireless.netaccess.umn.edu or eduroam.netaccess.umn.edu
- Identity: your full University of Minnesota email address
- Anonymous identity: leave blank
- Password: your University of Minnesota password
- You may also need to specify Advanced options:
- Metered: Detect automatically
- Proxy Settings: None
- IP Settings: DHCP
Note: These steps do not work for certain Samsung and Motorola devices. If these settings do not match what you are seeing, Download and Install eduroam CAT on an Android Device.
Connect to WiFi using Android 6.X or below
- Tap the Settings icon.
- Tap Wi-Fi under Wireless & networks.
- Select a WiFi network.
- Most University members should choose eduroam.
- If you do not see the networks shown, ensure that your WiFi is turned on.
- Identity: Use your full University of Minnesota email address ([email protected]).
- Password: University of Minnesota password.
- Click Save.
