Perceptive Experience: Searching and Viewing Documents

Perceptive Experience is the HTML5 web app for the Imaging Service at the University of Minnesota. This document details how to use Perceptive Experience to find and view documents.

Note: In order to access both Perceptive Content and Perceptive Experience from off campus, you must first connect to the University Virtual Private Network (VPN).  Please visit the VPN webpage to download a supported VPN client and access set up instructions.

  1. Log into Perceptive Experience
  2. Choose "Documents" from the home page

  3. Click the view or filter that you'd like to open
    • A list of views available to you will display on the left-hand side of the page
    • If you don't see a list on the left, click on the icon with three horizontal lines to toggle the menu on.

  4. Searching for documents
    1. Click the + symbol (Add Constraint) to add a search constraint

    2. Use the drop down menus to select the parameters for the search
    3. Click Add

    5. Click on the AND operator to change it to an OR operator

    6. Click Search when finished setting search parameters. A list of results will display.

  5. Click on a document in the list to open it

  6. Use the toolbars at the top and bottom of the page to manipulate the document
    • e.g., annotate, zoom in/out, export to file/PDF, etc.
    • If you do not have permission to use a button, you will see it but will not be able to use it
    • Mouse over a button to view its function

Saving Searches as Private Filters

  1. Click the Filter icon in the upper right corner of the search box after you have finished added your search constraints

  2. Enter a Name for the filter
