This article contains instructions for Kaltura MediaSpace users to preserve media content, particularly if that content is scheduled for removal.
Auditing & Inventorying
- Go to the Course and Media Retention page in Kaltura MediaSpace linked within the Help and Announcement menus.
- Select Show my media marked "TO BE DELETED OCT 2026". A list of impacted media content you own or for which you are a co-editor will appear.
Downloading Media Content
To download the source file for media content that appears in your "TO BE DELETED OCT 2026" list above:
- To the right of the media, in the︙More menu, select Edit. The Edit page appears.
- In the player, select ▶ Play.
- In the upper right of the player, select ↓ Download. The Downloads screen appears.
- Under "Main stream", select ↓ Download. The file will download to your computer/device.
- If you are working with media content that has multiple sources and wish to download secondary source(s), under "Additional streams", select ↓ Download for any other source(s) you wish to preserve.
Note: If your TO BE DELETED media listing includes items marked "YouTube in Kaltura", those were added through the Kaltura: Connect to YouTube Videos process. In those cases, because the original recording lives on YouTube.com, the "Downloading Media Content" steps on this page will not work for YouTube in Kaltura videos.
