Jadu Forms: Attach a Custom PDF with Form Data (designed as a fillable PDF) to an Email

A PDF containing the submitted form data can be generated and attached to an email. This option should be used if the PDF needs to have more advanced formatting (text box outlines, multiple columns etc.). If a more low effort approach is desired with less formatting options, please refer to the Generate and Attach a Simple PDF of Submitted Form Data to Emails article.

Create a PDF Action Template

Follow the steps in the article Create a PDF template.

Attaching a custom PDF with form data requires that a PDF be generated before attaching to an email. The PDF format can range from simple to advanced depending on your individual needs.

Before creating your PDF Action Template in Jadu, you must have a PDF with fillable fields defined. For help with how to create a fillable PDF, please refer to Jadu Forms: Creating A PDF and Defining Fields.

Once the PDF file is created, follow these steps:

Adding a Custom PDF to an Email Template

To attach a custom PDF created by the PDF action template to an email template, follow the steps below.

  1. Use an existing email template or create a new one.
  2. Set the Attachment option below the Content section to "PDF of completed form".
Attachment section with "PDF of Completed Form" option highlighted
  3. Complete the rest of your email template as required and then click the Save button.

Create or Update a Rule to Send Email

The PDF must be generated before it can be attached to an email, so these 2 actions need to be set up within the same rule in order to enforce the order they happen.

  1. Use an existing rule or create a new one.
  2. Under the When block, choose "User submits the form" from the dropdown.
  3. Under the Then block choose "Create PDF of Submission" from the dropdown, using the custom PDF Action template that you created above in the first step.
  4. Select the And option to add another Then block.
  5. Under the new Then block, choose "Send Email" from the dropdown, using the email action template you created above in the second step.
