Versions

  • Community: A fully-featured, extensible, free IDE for creating modern applications for Android, iOS, Win, as well as web applications and cloud services.
  • Professional: Professional is designed for professional developers and small to medium-sized teams, offering a robust IDE with a lower subscription cost, while Enterprise is the most feature-rich and expensive option aimed at larger organizations and advanced needs
  • Enterprise: Includes all Professional features plus more advanced tools for testing, debugging, and architecture, making it suitable for large, complex projects.
  • Code: An integrated development environment developed for Windows, Linux, macOS and web browsers.

Visual Studio Pro can be purchased through our Microsoft Select Plus contract that is currently being managed by CDWG, a UMarket vendor. 

  1. Go to the UMarket site.
  2. Select the Shop Now button.
  3. Sign in with your UMN internet ID and password.
  4. Scroll to the Electronic Components; Computer Equipment, Software & Supplies section.
  5. Select the CDW-G icon.
  6. Select the PunchOut link.
  7. On the CDW-G/U Market Ordering Site, select Popular Microsoft Licensing on the left hand side of the screen.
  8. Select the Microsoft either icon that says Visual Studio.
