Software availability definitions

The University of Minnesota offers software for staff, faculty, students, and researchers with and without University-owned devices. Learn more about what software availability terms mean and how they apply to different account types:

ProvidedUniversity provides licensing at no additional cost to the user.
Not availableNot available for use due to a technical or legal consideration.
With assignment of a University-owned deviceThe use of the device requires the user be licensed. As a result the user can use that license on other devices.
With course registrationLicenses are suspended if the student isn't registered. Note: They will still have access over breaks.
With purchaseRequires an additional purchase.
Upon request - limited periodA request must be submitted and the access is somehow limited such as it may expire after a certain duration.
