Technology Help Website: Create a Resource Page

You can create a Resource Page content type on the Technology Help website it.umn.edu.

Creating a Resource page

  1. Sign in to the Drupal website
  2. In the top menu, hover over Content then Add content then Resource Page
  3. In the Resource Type drop-down menu, select the appropriate category for your page
  4. Fill in the content specified below in the Resource page template (on this page)
  5. Add a note to the Revision log message on the right side of the page
    1. Briefly describe what you did to the page
  6. To publish the page, check the box next to Published and Save
    1. To save the page as a draft to publish later, leave the box unchecked and Save

Resource page template

The following heading titles should correspond with the content fields you encounter while creating a Resource Page in Drupal. 

Title

Write a descriptive title that indicates the purpose of the page:

  • Determine 2-3 keywords that represent the content and ensure that those words are included in the title 
  • Describe what a user should be able to understand or accomplish after viewing the page
  • Always mention the service or technology name
  • Avoid exceeding 10-12 words, if possible
  • Use title case
     

Introduction and summary

Introduce or summarize the content so users know if they are on the right page. 1-3 sentences. 

Main content

Using the Resource Paragraphs drop-down menu, add your content to the page. Use the available Folwell components to organize your content. 

Note: Not all components listed on the Folwell website are available on the Tech Help website. We commonly only use a few components (refer to Examples (on this page) for usage):

  • Text with Optional Header
  • Accordion
  • Callout

Intended audience (optional)

Specify for whom this technology or service is intended:

  • Students
  • Instructors
  • Researchers
  • Staff & Departments
  • IT Staff and Partners
  • Health Sciences Affiliates

Edit under the Categories tab, in the Intended Audiences section. Select all appropriate groups from the list.

Categories

Select all related business service categories, service offering categories, and service categories. Edit under the Categories tab, in the Service Offering Categories section. Select all related service offerings from each of the three lists.

Link to related services, technologies, explore categories, etc. Edit under the Links tab, in the Additional Resources section.
