You can provide technical information not meant for a public audience using Knowledge Internal Notes for articles published to it.umn.edu. Knowledge Internal Notes are only visible to technicians viewing articles in TDX.
Knowledge Internal Notes should be brief, but can include:
- Information that clarifies article step(s).
- Information that calls out common issues or trouble spots users have with an article.
- Anything that will assist a technician in troubleshooting.
Do not add Knowledge Internal Notes to internal articles.
Adding Knowledge Internal Notes to an article
Only editors can add or update Knowledge Internal Notes. If you are not an editor but feel an article could benefit from Knowledge Internal Notes, you should Give Feedback on the article.
- Open the knowledge article in Edit mode.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Scroll down to the Knowledge Internal Notes.
- Enter a new note or edit currently existing notes.
- Append your note with your Internet ID and the date.

- Do not remove a note unless you are the knowledge owner or have consulted with the knowledge owner.
- Append your note with your Internet ID and the date.
- Click Save.
Viewing Knowledge Internal Notes
When viewing an article in the Knowledge Base you will see any Knowledge Internal Notes in the Details section of the page.
