Targetprocess: Create a Story

Stories are the breakdown of the total work needed to complete a Feature. They are a short description of a small piece of work that can be completed within one Iteration.

Teams are empowered to create Stories to reflect the actual work that is needed at any time.

  • Most Stories are created during PI planning.
  • If the team discovers different work is needed during a PI, new Stories can be created at that point. 
  • Any time expected work effort changes, the team needs to communicate with the Scrum Coach, Product Owner, and/or Product Manager to ensure work is prioritized correctly.

Creating a Story

Stories can be created from many views in Targetprocess, but it is often easiest to create them from the Team Backlog view. Stories can also be created from the Team Kanban view, the Iteration Planning view, or from within the Feature details.

  1. Navigate to Team Backlog.
    • Expand Teams, then Team Overview, then select Team Backlog from the left navigation menu.
  2. Filter by the appropriate Portfolio and Team, if needed.
  3. Expand the correct Feature or the No Feature area, and select the + icon next to Stories, Bugs.
  4. Select Story.
  5. Enter the required information and be sure that either the Team or Feature is identified.
  6. Select Add or Add & Open.
