Google Apps: Change Campus Domain
You can request that your internet/email account be moved from one campus domain to another (each UMN Campus is considered a 'domain;' Crookston, Duluth, Morris, Rochester, Twin Cities).
This requires that we move you out of your old (previous) campus domain into your new campus domain.
Once your email has changed domains, messages sent to the old domain will automatically reroute to your current account.
Please read the following to understand how the migration process works.
Note: Applicants will not be able to fill out the form listed below. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with Your name, InternetID, alternate email, what Domain you're in, and what Domain you would like to be moved to.
Overview of the process
- Submit Request: Complete and submit the form once you have downloaded any data from your old University Google account. This sends us a Task. We cancel the Task, and create a Service Now Incident, which will send Next Steps; please reply to the incident when ready to migrate. (NOTE: cancelling the Task does not cancel the migration; it Moves it to an Incident).
- Request In Fulfillment: We will examine your account and mark it for migration from the current campus domain. The migration process only runs Sunday through Thursday at 8 PM (requests submitted after Thursday afternoon will be fulfilled on Sunday Night at 8 PM). We'll email you, letting you know that your migration is scheduled.
- Request Completed: We will send a confirmation email to the alternate email address associated with your account once the process is complete. The duration of the process depends on the amount of email in your account.
Step 1: Export Google Files you wish to keep
ONLY email messages will be moved automatically! all other types of content you created in Google Apps are your responsibility to move, including any Google files. This includes Google Drive Files, Google Websites, Google Calendars, Google Blogger Blogs, YouTube Videos, and all other Google Content.
Before submitting a request to change campus domains, you must download any Google files you wish to take with you from your account. If you need assistance with this, please see Exporting Google Apps.
Step 2: Submit Domain Change request form
Once you have downloaded Google files you wish to take with you from your account and are ready to proceed, please complete this Change Campus Domains request form to initiate the migration of your account. This sends us a Task.
We cancel the Task, and create a Service Now Incident, which will send Next Steps; please reply to the incident when ready to migrate. (NOTE: cancelling the Task does not cancel the migration; it Moves it to an Incident).
