Unified Communication (Voicemail): Voice Portal Menu Options and Commands

This article provides a comprehensive list of the menu options listed in the Voicemail Portal. The numbers are listed in the order you will hear them. If a number is listed below, but you do not hear it in your voicemail, you likely do not have that option available at this time. Read the notes for further information on how to enable the options.

Accessing the Voicemail Portal

You can access the voicemail portal from your University phone, another University phone, or a non-University phone. Once you have logged in, you will be in the Voicemail Portal where you can manage your voicemail options.

NOTE: Your mailbox number (AKA extension) is the last 5 digits of the University phone number the voicemail is connected to.

Dialing from Your University Phone

  1. Dial 60001 (88888 for Rochester).
  2. When prompted enter your password and (press #).

Option: You may also use your desk phone's voicemail button. The button's name and location can be found on your phone's Telephone Guide.

Dialing from Some Other University Phone

  1. Dial 60001 (88888 for Rochester).
  2. Enter your mailbox number and (press #).
    • Some phones require that you (press *) before entering your mailbox number.
  3. When prompted enter your password and (press #).

Dialing from Outside the University

  1. Dial 612-626-0001 (507-258-8888 for Rochester).
  2. When prompted:
    1. When prompted (press *).
    2. Enter your mailbox number and (press #).
    3. Enter your password and (press #).

NOTE: At anytime you may press * to go back to previous menu or press # to repeat the current menu

Voicemail Box Options

Once you have accessed your voicemail box by pressing 1 from the main menu, the following options are available:

Options After Playing a Message

These are the options you have available after playing a message. To get to this menu, access the voicemail portal, then press 1 to access your voicemail box and press 1 again to listen to a message.

Options While Playing a Message

These options are never said or read out. They are available to use whenever you are listening to a voice message:
