Features are prioritized in Targetprocess using the WSJF (Weighted Shortest Job First) method. The Product Manager is responsible for prioritization of features.
Prioritizing Features
- Navigate to Feature WSJF.
- Expand ARTs, then PI Readiness, then select Feature WSJF from the left navigation menu.
- Filter by the appropriate Portfolio, Agile Release Train, Program Increment, and Team.
- Refer to Filtering the Content of a View or Folder for instructions.
- Ensure all Features have a value type:
- Expand No Value.
- For each Feature under No Value, Specify the Value Type of a Feature or Story.
- Expand one value type to see all the Features of that type (Business, Enabler, Improvement, etc.).
- First, select the User, Business Value for all the Features of that value type:
- Higher numbers indicate a greater value to the customer.
- Setting all the User, Business Values at once allows you to compare and choose relative values between the features.
- Next, select the Time Criticality for each feature of that value type:
- Higher numbers indicate the most urgent Feature.
- Next, select the RR, OE Value for each feature of that value type:
- This stands for Risk Reduction & Opportunity Enablement.
- Higher numbers indicate the Feature(s) that will reduce the most risk or enable the greatest opportunity.
- Finally, select the Job Size for each feature of that value type:
- Higher numbers indicate a larger job.
- After choosing numbers in all four fields, the WSJF score is automatically calculated for each Feature.
- Repeat steps 4–8 for each Value Type.
