This article describes how to use the Abbreviated Dial feature on phones commonly found on campus.
This feature creates a personal speed dial directory of frequently called internal or external numbers. It also assigns each frequently called number either a 1 or 2-digit reference code (from [0] - [9] or [0] [0] - [9] [9]) depending on the phone's class of service.
Instructions
Digital Phones:


Programming Abbreviated Dial:
- Press [SPKR] button or lift handset.
- Press [ABVD] [*].
- Enter unique reference code (from [0] - [9] or [0] [0] - [9] [9]).
- Hear 1 beep.
- Enter the desired phone number based on which organization you are a part of:
- University Phones: [8] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- Fairview Customers: [9] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- University Phones: [8] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- Hear 2 beeps.
- Hang up.
- Your abbreviated dial is now configured!
Make Call Using Abbreviated Dial:
- Press [SPKR] button or lift handset.
- Press [ABVD] button follow by the abbreviated dial code.
Displaying Abbreviated Dial Numbers:
- Press [DSPL] button (lamp on).
- Press [ABVD] button.
- Repeat pressing [ABVD] until desired number is reached.
Analog Phones:

Programming Abbreviated Dial:
- Lift handset.
- Dial 'feature code' [#] [4] [*].
- Enter unique reference code (from [0] - [9] or [0] [0] - [9] [9]).
- Hear 1 beep.
- Enter the desired phone number based on which organization you are a part of:
- University Phones: [8] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- Fairview Customers: [9] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- University Phones: [8] + Area Code + Phone Number.
- Hear 2 beeps.
- Hang up.
- Your abbreviated dial is now configured!

- Lift handset.
