Microsoft Software: Purchase from SoftwareOne

SoftwareOne is an approved vendor for purchases of Microsoft software under the University of Minnesota's enterprise agreement. Products from other publishers, such as Adobe, cannot be purchased from this vendor.

All purchases are annual subscriptions and will expire on July 31, regardless of when they are purchased. Some products qualify for prorated pricing. If available, this will be reflected in the quoted price (see below).

Purchasing Software in SoftwareOne

Microsoft Software can be purchased from SoftwareOne, using the following process:

  1. Send a quote request to [email protected] and include [email protected] and [email protected]. In the body of the email, list the quantity needed and specify whether the licenses will be for faculty/staff or for students. You should receive an email confirmation from SoftwareOne, as well as a notification that a ticket has been opened with the OIT Software Licensing team.
  2. Once you receive the quote, generate a purchase order (PO).
    1. If your unit has completed the PEAK transition (implementation schedule), you can ask the Financial Operations Center to generate a PO by submitting their Purchase Request form.
    2. If your unit has not yet completed the PEAK transition, share the quote with your unit's finance group and ask them to submit a PO for you.
  3. Reply to the UMN ticket from step one and provide a list of the users who will need to be granted access to the requested product(s).

Most orders will be fulfilled within 2-5 business days. Once the licenses have been received, the OIT Software Licensing team will grant the requested access and inform you through the ticketing system.
