College of Design Service: IT Equipment Lifecycle Management

Description

The College of Design provides a computer for each full-time (75% time or greater, 9 or 12 month contract) faculty and staff member. These computers are covered with hardware warranties that facilitate repairs when something breaks. CDes IT staff works with the appropriate vendors to coordinate hardware repairs as needed.

College computers are upgraded every four years. The college has standard PC and Mac desktop and laptop configurations available. Individuals who are eligible for replacements or upgrades are notified by CDes IT during the spring of each year. Once a computer is replaced with an upgrade, it is recycled after all data on the hard drive is securely removed.

Faculty conducting research or working on special projects often have special equipment needs beyond the standard provided by the college. CDes IT staff are available to consult with anyone who has special computer or peripheral needs.

CDes IT provides ordering, delivery, repair, and removal of IT equipment for the college.

Hours of service: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
