Overview
Dedoose is a cross-platform app for analyzing qualitative and mixed methods research with text, photos, videos, spreadsheet data and more.
Dedoose is offered through Health Sciences Technology (HST) for faculty qualitative researchers in participating colleges and schools, including:
- College of Biological Sciences (CBS)
- College of Design (CDES)
- Carlson School of Management (CSOM)
- College of College of Education and Human Development (CEHD)
- School of Dentistry (SoD)
- School of Nursing (SoN)
- School of Medicine (SoM)
- College of Pharmacy (CoP)/Center for Allied Health Programs (CAHP)
- School of Public Health (SPH)
The University Information Security (UIS) review, Business Associate Agreement (BAA), and terms and conditions were finalized on Oct. 1, 2024.
Fiscal year (FY) 2026 licenses are now $74.55 each and run through Nov. 21, 2026. Contact your Research Dean to confirm usage. Yearly access review is required for this application between October through December.

Highlights
Dedoose has been reviewed by UIS and has been recommended as a replacement for NVivo. HST facilitated the purchase of this tool for our constituents across the Health Sciences and is able to work with other colleges and schools that may be interested.

Getting Started
Once the request form is received, it goes through an approval process. Once the approvals are in place, we work with the vendor to get users added to UMN's Dedoose instance. If you have preexisting projects or have been using NVivo, the Dedoose support team will assist.
Periodic trainings, workshops and other resources are available in the Dedoose Learning Center.
