Oracle: Drop or Delete an Account

When an Oracle Schema (Account) is no longer needed and can be removed, send a request to the Oracle database team.

Requesting Oracle Schema (Account) Deletion

Note: Not including the required information will result in slower processing time.

An Authorized Requestor or Unit Lead from the CESI unit which owns the Schema (Account) should submit a request to the Oracle Database Team (G4E) using one of two methods:

Include the following when submitting your request:

  • List the databases where the Schema (Account) can be decommissioned.
  • Indicate whether or not a final backup of the data is necessary.

Processing Deletion Requests

Once the TDX ticket has been created, the following steps will be taken:

  • An Oracle Database Admin (DBA) will check dependencies, if any, for the Schema that will be removed.
  • An Oracle DBA will capture any requested final backups of the data.
  • If there are database roles associated with the Schema that exist, those will be deleted too
    • For example: If Schema "myaccount" has associated application roles - oit_myaccount_rd_alloit_myaccount_wr_all and oit_myaccount_ex_all; with myaccount object grants, these roles can be deleted.
