Jadu Dashboard: Case Filter Best Practices

Design for Usability

When choosing which fields/columns to display in the Dashboard Filter, consider the following in order to ensure that your dashboard concisely displays the information needed for the dashboard user to take action:

Consider usability/purpose for the audience using the dashboard page.

If one person or team is responsible for interacting with multiple processes, you may want to include multiple widgets on one home page for them to see all of their work in one place. However, if the target audience is someone who oversees an entire process, you might consider showing all statuses of a process in a single widget that sorts by case number, or separate out the statuses in their own widgets and consolidate those on a single homepage.

Avoid displaying fields/columns with long values in the list views.

Avoid displaying fields with long values such as text areas as these take up more vertical and horizontal space in the list without providing the most essential information.

Limit the number of columns to avoid horizontal scrolling.

To save space, limit the number of columns to avoid horizontal scrolling. To enhance the user experience, include only the columns that users really need to see. The Next URL * column will include a link to open up the request with more details and the user can review/act on the request from there.

Avoid displaying data that the audience won't see in their Jadu Central Form, including PHI / restricted data.

The Jadu Connect case holds ALL data submitted from various steps in the process, and may not be appropriate to display for all actors in the workflow process. If the data won't be visible to the dashboard user when they open up the form to act on it, then it probably shouldn't be included as a Dashboard Filter column.

Suggested Jadu Connect Fields to Include in Filter

Here are some suggested fields to consider including in the Dashboard FIlter list. Note: This will vary across processes depending on what fields are in use on your case type.

  • Status: Useful if the filter will be showing multiple case types or statuses
  • Next Form URL fields: Any field that begins with Next Form URL will be displayed as an Action button in the Jadu Central homepage widget, and will automatically insert the Case number into the URL. The appropriate URL field should be included if the end user is expected to take action on the request from the dashboard.
    • Note: Only one Next Form URL field can be displayed as an Action button
  • Submission Date or Due Date: Can help dashboard users prioritize what to work on first
  • Requested By or Requested For: Identify who the request is for
  • Responsible Person Name / Email: Recommended in team working queues for visibility into who is currently working on the request
