Overview

Honorlock is a remote proctoring solution to enhance academic integrity for assessments given through Canvas. Honorlock uses AI to detect visual clues from video input to flag suspicious behaviors and, for highly suspicious behaviors, alerts live proctors to pause the exam and pop in via chat for immediate intervention during an exam.

Highlights

Honorlock’s proctoring services include a suite of features:

  • Protects exam integrity with a combination of live proctors and AI tools during online exams.
  • Provides exam and live support anytime, day or night, no scheduling required.
  • Secures the testing window with BrowserGuard™ that will flag any access to browsers and applications outside of the testing window, disables keyboard shortcuts, and locks down the ability to take screenshots of the exam.
  • Records the student desktop and student’s face while taking an exam to deter students from academic dishonesty.
  • Prioritizes flexible accommodations, integrating with assistive technology, and conforming to compliance standards and guidelines.
  • Generates a useful faculty dashboard with all exam footage of each student, flags pinpointing unallowed behavior, and reports that show common flags across semester exams and class participants.

Getting Started

Honorlock’s proctoring services are applied using one of two optional tools: either a downloadable application or an extension to a Chrome browser. It is important for instructors to understand the nuances of each tool type and how to best prepare students for exams proctored by Honorlock based on the tool they plan to use.

See Honorlock: Proctor In-person or Remote Exams Given in Canvas for step-by-step instructions for setting up Honorlock to proctor exams in a Canvas course and preparing students for taking proctored exams.

Honorlock has 24/7/365 Support for both instructors and students. If students encounter an issue while taking an exam, the Honorlock chat support icon is always available in the bottom, right corner of the test taker window.
