Jira: Export Data

You can export issues (Features, Stories, Tasks, Bugs, etc) from Jira for future reference.

Exporting Jira Issues

  1. Navigate to Jira.
  2. From the top navigation bar, select Filters.
    • Filters may be under More depending on your screen size. 
  3. Select Advanced issue search. The Search window opens.
  4. In the Search window, use the filters to define the issues you want to export (Project, issue Type, etc).
    • Note: Jira defaults to only showing issues created in the last 30 days. You can modify or remove this filter.Jira Search page. The filter menus in the Search page are highlighted. You can filter by Project, Type, Status, Assignee, and more. with
  5. If desired, define the data fields you want to export.
    1. Make sure you are in List View. Type "t" to toggle between Detail View and List View.
    2. Use the Columns menu to display the data fields you want to export. 
  6. Select Export Export.
  7. Select Export Excel CSV (current fields) or Export Excel CSV (all fields). The Excel file will begin downloading.
    • Any of the export options in the dropdown can be selected, but Excel CSV (Comma Separated Values) file types work well for most uses.
  8. Open the downloaded file and save it to a location where you or your team can access it in the future.
