This article is an overview of the different call controls, buttons, and settings in the Clearspan Webex Teams (formerly Webex Engage) application used for Voice Over IP (VOIP) phones.
Note: VoIP callers should be aware of certain restrictions to 911 calls. Visit z.umn.edu/voip911 for more information.

Call Controls: Buttons on a Phone Call
- End Call -
- This button hangs up or ends the call.
- Mute -
- This button will mute your microphone.
- The caller will not be able to hear anything at all. They will be able to notice you are muted.
- Unmute -
- This button will unmute your microphone allowing the caller to hear you again.
- Only available after you have muted yourself.
- Audio call settings. Click the up arrow ^ next to the Mute or Unmute button. This expands a menu with Speaker and Microphone settings for the call.
- This button will mute your microphone.
- Start video -
Note: Using the video function on Webex Teams is not a supported feature. For video meetings, it is recommended to use Zoom.- This button will start your video if you have a webcam on your device.
- Stop video -
- This button turns your video off.
- Only available after starting your video.
- Video call settings. Click the up arrow ^ next to the Start video or Stop video button. This expands a menu with Camera options and settings for the call.
- Keypad -
- This opens the dial pad while on a call.
- More -
- This button allows you to find further call options including, Hold, Transfers, and Conference a call.
- This button allows you to find further call options including, Hold, Transfers, and Conference a call.
- Hold -
- This option will put the caller on hold.
- This opens a new window for your call showing that the caller is on hold.
- Resume -
- This button will take the caller off hold and bring you back to the caller.
- Only available after placing a call on hold.
- Transfer -
- Webex Teams: Transfer a Call
- After you transfer the call, you will no longer be a part of the call. It sends the caller to the person you are transferring to.
- This option will transfer the call to whatever number you enter.
- Conference -
- This button will bring another person (or multiple people) into your call.
- After you merge/conference the calls, all parties will be in one call together.
- IMPORTANT: You are the 'call owner.' If you end the call when using Conference Call, then the call is ended for everyone.

Menu Buttons
- Contacts -
- This menu allows you to view your contacts that are saved in Webex Teams.
- Webex Teams: Add and Update a Contact
- Calling -
- This menu shows your recent calls and call history.
- Webex Teams: Make a Call or Call Back After Disconnecting
- Keypad -
- This menu brings you to the dial pad/keypad to make a call.
- Voicemail -
- This menu brings you to your voicemails.
- Help -
- This option has information about keyboard shortcuts in Webex Teams and a link to the Help Center.
- New update waiting -
- This button will appear in the side menu whenever you have a new update available for the Webex Teams software.
- Select the button and follow the prompts to update your software.
Additional Buttons
- Call Pickup -
- This is not enabled in our instance of Webex Teams.
- Call Settings -
- This button expands a menu for call forwarding settings and to open your call preferences.
- Call Forward
- The default for the Call Forward option is Do Not Forward Calls.
- If you change it to the Voicemail option then it will forward all calls to your voicemail.
