Google Custom Search: Frequently Asked Questions about the Transition
What happens on Dec 31, 2018 if I haven’t made the switch to CSE?
Search results will no longer be displayed by the Google Search Appliance (GSA).
I have a Drupal Enterprise 7 or 8 site. How can I check if my code needs to be updated for search?
Log onto your Drupal dev or stage site. If the search bar in the header says Google custom search engine, you're using the module and will not need to make updates for your site’s search.
If you do not see Google custom search engine in the search field, you have custom code and will need to manually update your search for the GCSE to work.
What will happen with my GSA keymatches?
The CSE uses promotions instead of keymatches. Based on how the CSE is configured for each campus, the ability to use promotions in the same way that keymatches were used has changed. Instructions and guidelines for their use are being updated and they will be published in the self-help guide in the upcoming weeks.
What is the timeline for the production cutover from GSA to GCSE?
December 12, 2018 for Drupal Enterprise and Lite (using the module)
December 31st, 2018 for non-Drupal sites or Drupal Enterprise sites not using the module
