Duo Mobile App to be Updated in October

Do the Duo: New look and feel

Duo Security, the University of Minnesota’s two-factor authentication provider, will update the user interface for the mobile app for Android and iOS in October 2021.

  • Android: Oct. 11 – 15
  • iOS: Oct. 11 – 18

Depending on your device settings, your mobile app will automatically update or you will need to manually initiate the update once it becomes available to you.

Please note: Older operating systems that are no longer supported may not be able upgrade to the new version. If your phone can no longer accept Duo push, you may wish to contact Technology Help to request a Duo hardware token.

What will be Different?

Current users

People who are already using Duo’s mobile app will notice a new look and feel. Other notable differences include:

Approve Button Moved to the Right.

In older Duo mobile versions, the green “approve” checkmark button appeared on the left. In the new version (4.0.0) the approve checkmark button will be on the right. Duo has made this change to align with the user experience and design of other similar applications.

Hidden Passcode.

If you use the mobile app to get a Duo Passcode, note that the passcode will be hidden until you click “show.” This change is intended to improve information security by enabling you to make sure that your mobile device screen cannot be seen by others when the passcode appears.
