Overview

Qualtrics is an easy-to-use, full-featured, web-based tool for creating and managing online surveys. The University of Minnesota has a license with Qualtrics, and the Qualtrics platform (CoreXM) is free for all students, staff, and faculty. Qualtrics can be used for:

  • Research: complex survey design and experimental data collection.
  • Teaching: evaluations, quizzes with immediate feedback, lessons with branching, etc.
  • Administration: program assessment, event evaluation, feedback surveys, etc.
  • Forms: applications, contact forms, agreements, and collection of uploaded files.

Additionally, there are three different Qualtrics Learning Sites, which are learning resources provided directly by Qualtrics for all Qualtrics users.

Accessing Additional Features

University Qualtrics users can request access to additional features that do not come with the basic University Qualtrics account.

  • DesignXM: DesignXM is a set of advanced features within the Qualtrics survey builder, such as distribution automations, the video response question, and multi-project dashboards. See our Qualtrics DesignXM page for DesignXM feature details and for access request information. 
  • SMS Distributions: You can distribute surveys or survey invitations via short message service (SMS) text messaging. See our Qualtrics: Use SMS Distributions page for a description of features and for access request information. 
  • Qualtrics API: To be granted access to the Qualtrics API, email your request with your use case to [email protected].

Qualtrics Integration with Canvas

The Qualtrics LTI allows you to integrate Qualtrics surveys into the Canvas learning experience. There is a cost associated with using the Qualtrics LTI.
