This article details how to install the Clearspan Webex Teams (formerly Webex Engage) application. Webex Teams is the application used for accessing the Voice Over IP (VOIP) softphone system. Webex Teams accounts can be requested at http://z.umn.edu/datavoicerequest
- Note: VoIP callers should be aware of certain restrictions to 911 calls. Visit z.umn.edu/voip911 for more information.
- Note: This service is temporarily available for Health Care Component (HCC) members during the COVID-19 crisis. For instructions and updates please see Health Information Privacy & Compliance Office's information on COVID-19 and HIPAA at UMN. For HCC members, the soft-phone is not allowed on Home PC's. The soft-phone is only allowed to be used on University-managed computers.

Installing on Mac
- Navigate to Self Service .
- Search for "webex" and find the Clearspan Webex Teams application.
- Click Install.
- Wait for the installation to complete, then you can Sign In.
- Note: Wait for OIT to create an account for you before signing in. Do not create a free Cisco Webex account
Installing on Windows
Note: We recommend your windows computer have 16GB RAM to work without issue.
- Navigate to Software Center .
- Search for Clearspan Webex Teams application.
- Click Install.
- Wait for the installation to complete, then you can Sign In.
- Note: Wait for OIT to create an account for you before signing in. Do not create a free Cisco Webex account.
Troubleshooting Known Errors
"The document "Webex.dmg" could not be opened. Zoom.us cannot open files in the "Disk Image" format."
- This error occurs on a Mac when the device is attempting to use Zoom to open the file.
- Solution: Open the file with DiskImageMounter.
- Go to Downloads.
- Right click the Webex.dmg file.
- Select Open With.
- Choose the option DiskImageMounter.
