How to Buy into Microsoft EES add-on agreement for Visio Pro and Project Pro
At the beginning of each fiscal year, Microsoft offers University of Minnesota collegiate departments and administrative units the opportunity to purchase Project Pro and Visio Pro licenses as a bundle for University-owned computers for approximately $10 to $15 per Full Time Equivalent (FTE) staff/faculty count. Through this enrollment, collegiate departments and units must cover all FTEs within a specific DeptID. Information can be found here or here.
Renewal notices are sent yearly to all license holders to see if they want to renew, as well as to units that expressed an interest in signing up prior to the buy-in period (Mid-April each year).

How to get the software
The above departments should have the Visio Pro and Project Pro software available to install in Software Center. If they do not, please email [email protected] with the computer name.
- For units aligned with OIT, OIT Software Licensing can deploy the software to Software Center for the device.
- For units not aligned with OIT that use Software Center, OIT can scope the Visio Pro and Project Pro software to System Center Configuration Manager so that it can be deployed to Software Center.
- For units not aligned with OIT and do not use Software Center, OIT Software Licensing can provide an installer package to the department IT staff so they can install it on devices in their unit.
If a Department does not buy into Microsoft EES add-on agreement for Visio Pro and Project Pro
If coverage for an entire department is not necessary, University departments and units can purchase individual software licenses for University-owned computers through our Microsoft Select Plus re-seller, which is CDWG via UMarket. If people with these license need to have software installed, packaged, etc., they will need to provide proof of licensure, OIT Software Licensing does not have access to those purchase records.
