Upcoming Windows 10 Version Update

Windows 10 version 1709 will reach end of service in April 2020. In advance of this, OIT will be updating all Windows 10 operating systems on managed devices to version 1809. 

This upgrade is currently opt-in and will be mandatory for all end users beginning on August 15, 2019. The update is lengthy—it will take end users about 45 minutes to restart their device after completing the update. It is critical for end users to be aware of the time commitment associated with this update. End users will be notified via email twice about the update, and be given four weeks to opt in voluntarily at a time that would work best for them. After August 15, 2019, they will be alerted via desktop notification to complete the mandatory update. The notification will not, however, indicate the length of the update.
