Change to University Google Account Time-Out Period
Starting on June 1, 2022, the University is updating its security policy regarding how long you can remain signed in to your University Google account. Currently, when you sign in to any Google Workspace application with your University Internet ID and password, Google automatically remembers you for 14 days. This prevents you from having to sign in each time you access your account within the 14-day active session. With this change, the amount of time that your session can remain active will be reduced to seven days.
No action is required as a result of this change.
Why are we changing?
This important policy update comes as a result of a recent information security risk assessment. To protect the University's institutional data and bring consistency to risk management, University Information Security recommends reducing the amount of time a session can remain active from 14 to 7 days.
