Various groups at the University occasionally ask for a way to charge for access to video content. There are many ways to do this, but not many ways to do it that are centrally supported at the University.
Supported: Control access to videos with Destiny One, Canvas, and Kaltura
The best way to do this with centrally-supported tools at the University of Minnesota is to:
- Upload the videos to Kaltura, but be sure they do not include Protected Health Information (PHI) or materials where you are not the copyright owner.
- Publish those Kaltura videos in a Canvas course.
- Control access to the Canvas course using the Destiny One Registration System (DORS).
