Adobe Creative Cloud: New Sign In Process

Effective 2023 the process for signing in to install and activate Adobe Creative Cloud apps has changed. This applies to Creative Cloud Named User Licenses through the OIT Adobe VIP Agreement.

The new sign in uses Company or School Adobe account type instead of a Personal account that was previously used.

If your Adobe ID for Creative Cloud was created in 2022 or earlier, your account will change to use this new process sometime in 2023, but for now continue to sign in with a Personal Account type.

Signing In to Install a Creative Cloud App

If an Adobe app is already installed and just asks you to sign in, skip down to activation directions below.

  1. Open a browser and clear your browsing history, then go to creativecloud.adobe.com/cc
  2. Enter your umn.edu email address when Adobe asks you to sign in
  3. Select Company or School Account if asked to select an account
  4. A UMN sign in screen appears. Enter your UMN InternetID and password
  5. Look for and select a link Apps or Browse All Apps
  6. Look for a section labeled Available in your plan. Apps that you have a license for should be listed.
  7. Select the Download or Install button for the app you wish to install, and follow instructions from Adobe. You may need to find and launch a Setup file in your downloads folder.
  8. During installation:
    • If requested, sign in to your Adobe account. Select Company or School account type, then authenticate with UMN internetID and password.
    • If the Creative Cloud desktop app is not already installed, this will be installed along with your selected Creative Cloud apps such as Photoshop or InDesign.
    • Admin level access to your device may be needed to install your Adobe apps.

To install additional apps later, launch the Creative Cloud desktop app that was installed during the process above.
