Overview

AssureSign is a University-supported electronic signature solution. Electronic signatures (eSignatures) are electronic symbols attached to a contract or other record used by a person with an intent to sign.

eSignatures guarantee that an electronic document is authentic. Esignatures use IP addresses, date and times to authenticate signatures. An electronic signature is recognized in a court of law.

Important: Use of this UMN AssureSign account is only intended for documents that require a legal signature. For example - vendor contracts and affiliation agreements.

For additional examples and information please visit policy.umn.edu and click on the Contracts tab. Please let us know if you have any questions about the use of AssureSign before you begin using the product.

Note: The University does not have a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with AssureSign. Do not use AssureSign if you need a HIPAA compliant tool. AssureSign is not to be used with protected health information (PHI). This means documents in the HIPAA-covered component of the University that include patient information or signatures and research participant information or signatures should not be entered into AssureSign.

Researchers

If you need a solution that can accommodate 21 CFR Part 11, consult with the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI). If you require a tool to collect signatures for electronic consent in human participants research, CTSI recommends REDCap.
