Technology Selection Guidelines
Helping you choose technologies with confidence.
The Office of Information Technology works with the distributed IT service organization and the Technology Advisory Council to provide technology acquisition guidelines and assistance to University of Minnesota faculty and staff members who are evaluating technologies their units are considering buying, using, or developing.
Our goal is to ensure that use of the technologies is aligned with the University's needs and technical environment throughout the technology's lifecycle, from the time it is under consideration to its retirement.
If you are exploring the use, purchase, or development of a technology solution at the University of Minnesota, you can contact the Technology Advisory Council for a consultation. The group is made up of technology experts from across the University system with knowledge and experience from a variety of technological disciplines and environments. The technology advisors can provide you with guidance about University policies, standards, practices and offer advice as you negotiate with vendors in the purchasing process. Request a consultation.
