IT Governance
We're on an extraordinary mission to change lives through research, education, and outreach.
The Information Technology (IT) governance process helps ensure that University of Minnesota technology tools and services are strategic, well-supported, and meet the needs of students, faculty, researchers, and staff.
Technology feedback survey
Each spring we launch a formal input-gathering process by sending out our technology feedback survey and holding meetings with stakeholders who use our technologies.
Find key takeaways, community perspectives on generative AI, and other insights from the most recent survey: 2025 Technology Feedback Survey results.
We are always open to feedback. Use the help button at the top right of the page to contact Technology Help or use the Was this page helpful? form at the bottom of each of this site's pages to share your ideas.
How we use feedback survey results
The insights gathered from the survey and meetings are synthesized and shared with IT decision-makers to inform planning for projects and initiatives as well as the University budget process.
Additionally, the IT Leadership Community of Practice may use the results to recommend creating new communities of practice, both formal and informal. The survey results can also influence communications campaigns to share information with the people who use technology at the University.
IT governance process
The annual process (represented in the image above) includes these steps:
- Users are invited to submit feedback surveys.
- Preliminary results are shared at end-user and local IT staff meetings, and additional feedback is gathered through other mechanisms.
- The final results are synthesized and used to improve the governance process, and to help IT leaders and service providers with service planning, budgeting, and implementation. Communications are sent throughout (see an enlargement).
