Digital Content: Use the Launch Plan Template

Use the launch digital content plan template if you need to communicate about a new technology or service.

The template comes pre-populated with suggested digital content communications and meetings. All content in the plan should be reviewed and potentially revised depending on the digital content needs of the project.

Using the Launch Plan Template

  1. Access the Launch Plan template.
  2. Fill in the information portion of the plan template.
    1. Launch date: The date of the launch in month/day/year format.
    2. Subject Matter Expert (SME): The main contact for the service/technology.
    3. Digital Content Communicators (DCC) Lead: The name of the DCC team member working on the project.
    4. Link to feature: Once the feature for the digital content work is created, add a link to it in this column.
  3. Plan out initial digital content needs in the rest of the template.
    1. Phase: Digital content items fall into four phases:
      • Pre-Announcement (work done before the announcement)
      • Announcement (sharing news of the change for the first time)
      • Follow-Up (reminding audiences about the change)
      • Final (last notice of change).
    2. Date: Day the communication, meeting, or other action should be finalized.
    3. Days until launch: Days between the communication, meeting, or other action and the launch that is automatically calculated.
    4. Channel: Method of communication.
    5. Audience: People who need to receive the message.
    6. Goal: The message the audience should learn.
    7. Key messages and links: Supporting information and resources.

The plan template is an outline that includes typical options for digital content and meetings. Depending on the size and scale of your project, you may add or remove items from the plan.
