Once you've created an email, you can send it using Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SMC).
Sending the Email
When you are ready to send your email:
- If you still have your email open, select Save and Send from the Save drop-down menu in the upper right corner of the page.
- If you're on the Content landing page, select your email in the Content Items list and select Send from the carrot drop-down to the right of your selected email.
Defining Properties for Sending
After preparing your email to send:
- Under Email Properties:
- Select Default Transactional from the drop-down menu.
- Select a Sender Profile from the drop-down menu.
- The Sender Profile specifies the From information for a send. Typically, this is the sign-off from your source (Google Doc).
- Leaving the Sender Profile as Default will use IT Communications as the From information.
- If you do not have a sender profile, use the Creating a Sender Profile article to make one.
- Leave Delivery Profile as default.
- Select Next.
Selecting Audiences
After defining the send properties, you will select audiences.
- Select My Lists from the left column.
- If you need to create a list, refer to the Find or Create a Mailing List article.
- Search for your Subscriber List and drag it to the Targeted box on the right side of the page.
- If sending to IT@UMN:
- Select Data Extensions, then Systemwide from the left column.
- Search for All IT Jobs and drag it to the Targeted box.
- You will be prompted to select a Publication List. Be sure All Subscribers is checked and choose Select.
- Search for All IT Jobs and drag it to the Targeted box.
- Select Data Extensions from the left column.
- Search for ITatUMN supplemental and drag it to the Targeted box.
- Search for ITatUMN supplemental and drag it to the Targeted box.
- Select Data Extensions, then Systemwide from the left column.
- Select Next.
Configuring Delivery
After selecting your audience, you will configure delivery.
- Confirm the Send Immediately radio button is selected.
- To schedule the send for a later time, choose Schedule and select the Date and Time.
- Select Next.
Reviewing and Sending
The final step in sending your SMC email is Review and Send.
- Confirm all information is correct:
- Targeted audience in the left column.
- Confirm total targeted number.
- Sender profile (From:).
- Subject line.
- Footer (Recipients).
- Targeted audience in the left column.
- When you are sure everything is correct, check the box that says This information is correct and this email is ready to send.
- Select Send/Schedule.
