Wired Network: Speed and Duplex Settings for Mac OS X

    1. Click the Apple menu and select System Preferences.

    2. In the Internet & Network section, double-click the Network icon.

    3. From the left-hand display menu, select Ethernet.

    4. Click the Advanced button.

    5. Click the Ethernet tab.

    6. Click the Configure pull-down menu and select Automatically.

    7. Click OK.

 

  1. Click the Apply button and close System Preferences.

 

NOTE:  Full duplex means that the network adapter can send and receive packets at the same time.  Half duplex means that the network adapter performs only one operation at a time; it either sends or receives packets.
