UofM Guest is the network that parents and other visitors to the University should use while they are on campus. If you have a University of Minnesota account you should not be using UofM Guest and should instead be connecting to eduroam.
NOTE: The University of Minnesota's data networks are currently in the process of being upgraded. This article refers to connecting to the "UofM Guest" network still being used across most of the Twin Cities campuses; if you are trying to connect to "UofM-Guest" instead of "UofM Guest", see the WiFi: Guest Access article.
On your device, navigate to the area where you can view all wifi networks that are in range.
Select UofM Guest from the list of available WiFi networks.
A web browser will automatically open to a network authentication page. This page explains the terms and conditions you agree to by using the guest WiFi.
If it does not automatically open:
Open a web browser (e.g., Safari, Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer).
Your web browser will direct you to a login page.
Enter a valid email address and click Connect.
Please keep in mind that this service is "best effort." It offers no encryption and is limited in bandwidth and capacity.
If you are unable to connect to the UofM Guest WiFi, please contact the Technology Helpline for assistance.
