Driver software updates are specific to the manufacturer of your wireless card. The manufacturer and model number are usually printed on external cards for identification. Built-in wireless cards may be identified through your laptop operating system. Contact your laptop vendor for assistance.
Search for Vendor Driver Software Updates
Go to your manufacturer's website and find instructions for downloading and installing the driver you need based on your wireless card model number and operating system.

Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 AGN
OIT has discovered a problem with Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 AGN wireless cards where they fail to automatically receive new software drivers via Windows update. When checking Windows update for Vista 32 bit OS using a Lenovo Thinkpad, a message displayed that no updates were available. The Intel website had a new software driver available, and after it was installed, no further wireless trouble was observed on the laptop.
