UMN Search: Using Googleon/Googleoff to Exclude Page Contents from Search
You can use the googleoff/googleon tags to exclude content from the search index in the Google Search Appliance (GSA).
Each news article on the IT@UMN site has a Recent News box on the right-hand side. In the example below, the second article in the recent news is a link to the phishing attack article.
The administrators do not want the Recent News list to be included in the Weekly WiFi Roundup news article. In other words, if a user searched the site for "phishing", the WiFi Roundup article shouldn't be in the results.
In the HTML for the page, the Recent News section is surrounded by the GoogleOFF and GoogleON tags.
There are additional flags associated with the googleoff/googleon tags that allow for customization.
