In its simplest terms, my role is to create media to help students learn. With an emphasis on video production and animation, I work with faculty and staff to get curricula on pace with modern technology. I often work directly with faculty during their recordings and edit them soon after with our staff of student workers. With technology and media methods changing everyday, there are always new opportunities to enhance student learning.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Minnesota in 2005, I spent six years in Los Angeles working in post-production editing video/audio and creating motion graphics. Upon my return to Minnesota, I worked at Twin Cities Public Television editing and animating promos and marketing material. While most of my experience through both jobs involved the creation of media for an online audience, much of my work was or currently is on air. It excites me to see how my blend of creativity and software knowledge can enhance the future of teaching and learning.
When I’m not busy with media, I am active in several sports including baseball, softball, and volleyball.
