This page contains detailed information about how the Moodle Lifecycle Process affects Moodle for Academic Year 2012-2013 (Moodle 2.2), also known as Moodle AY12 (2.2). You can tell whether your course site is in Moodle AY12 (2.2) if the address starts with ay12.moodle.umn.edu, as seen in the screenshot below:

Moodle AY12 (2.2): On Campus or VPN Only on December 31, 2015
Starting December 31, 2015, Moodle AY12 (2.2) will be accessible only from on campus or via a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
On October 26, 2015, all course site instructors and designers in Moodle AY12 (2.2) were notified about this change via email.

Security fixes for Moodle 2.2 are no longer released by moodle.org*. |
June 30, 2013 |
End of active instruction; this is the last date when a user can create a new course site in this Moodle instance. |
August 19, 2013 |
Reference use period begins; course sites remain accessible. |
September 1, 2013 |
AT Tools service team begins communicating Moodle Lifecycle Process to departments and instructors with course sites in Moodle AY12 (2.2). |
April 2015 |
Moodle AY12 (2.2) course site instructors/designers are emailed to give further notice about the on-campus only change coming on December 31, 2015. |
October 26, 2015 |
A prominent banner announcement is placed in Moodle AY12 (2.2) stating that the on-campus only change is coming on December 31, 2015. |
November 16, 2015 |
Moodle AY12 (2.2) is only accessible on campus or via Virtual Private Networking (VPN); off-campus users are presented a page explaining the change; security patching ends*. |
December 31, 2015 |
After about three years, archive status ends; user access is closed. |
October 1, 2018 |
*Security fixes for newer versions of Moodle are being applied to Moodle AY12 (2.2) through December 31, 2015.
