Overview

LDAP authentication can provide central authentication for some vendor-provided applications. Many packaged software products can be configured to reference an LDAP directory for authentication.

Highlights

  • Is compatible with applications that support LDAP v.3
  • Leverages users existing University of Minnesota credentials so that you don’t have to manage your users’ accounts and passwords
  • Your application can get additional information back about users who logged in -- such as name, role, job information, etc. -- that may be useful for access control (may require additional data access approval)
  • Can leverage access control information from Grouper.
