WiFi: Secure Your Data
Since information going through the air over wireless connections can be intercepted and read by others, wireless networking on the UofM network should be limited to casual Web browsing. There are currently two ways to encrypt your data:
- Use WPA2 encryption by logging on to the eduroam wireless network.
- If your computer is WPA2 compatible, this is the method that the Office of Information Technology recommends for securing your data.
- Encrypt your data by using Virtual Private Network (VPN).
- If you are signed on to the WPA2-encrypted eduroam network, it is not necessary to use VPN.
