Web Meetings: Choose an Appropriate Camera

This article covers choosing an appropriate camera for small, informal web meetings, and applies to any desktop video conferencing software, such as Google Video Calls (Hangouts),  Go To Meeting, WebEx, Skype, etc.

Laptops

  • Use the built-in camera. Laptops usually have adequate built-in cameras for web meetings. Test yours to make sure it will suit your needs. If you do not have a built-in camera, look under Desktops below.

Desktops

  • Use a USB web camera. There are many on the market. Technology Training uses cameras like these in their classes.

Mobile devices

  • Use the built-in camera. If your mobile device does not have a built-in camera, it is probably not suitable for web meetings.
