Printing: Connect to a networked printer from a University PC to a printer on a print server

To connect to a networked printer:

  1. Click the magnifying glass at the bottom left of the desktop screen, or open the start menu

  2. Type \\ahcprint1 (or the name of your group's print server) and press Enter.
  3. A window will appear containing a list of printer names:
    ahcprint1 available devices
  4. Locate the name of the printer. Double-click on the printer name and an installation window will appear.

  5. Open the "Printer" menu at the top left corner of the window. Select "Set As Default Printer" and click OK.
    1. Note: this is necessary and required for Boynton staff using the PNC EHR, but may be skipped for those who merely want to add additional options to their printer choices.

  6. A dialog box will appear confirming that Windows won't manage your default printer. Click OK.
    Windows will not manage default printer.

NOTE for Boynton health users: if you work on a desktop computer and connect to a terminal server session (e.g. TSBH-Prod) please set up your printers on the desktop computer FIRST, then log into the terminal server and repeat the process. After this initial installation procedure the terminal server session will pick up the settings from the desktop PC when you log in.
