Moodle 3.2: Enter Grades and Feedback in the Gradebook

Applies to: Moodle 3.2

WARNING: Standard scores and comments should be entered in Moodle activities directly in the activity's grading page whenever possible. For example, an assignment activity should be graded directly from the assignment, not from the gradebook. For more information on entering grades, see Enter Grades and Feedback via the Activity Interface.

There may be circumstances when instructors will wish to manually enter grades and comments directly into the Gradebook via the Standard Gradebook report. For example, if there is an offline assignment added to the gradebook, the instructor will need to grade the assignments from the gradebook interface.

The Edit by Item or Student function allows instructors to easily grade all students for one activity, or any activity for one student in the gradebook.

Entering grades using Edit by Item or Student

  1. Go to the course homepage.
  2. Find the Administration block:
    • Click Gradebook setup
  3. Select Edit by Item or Student from the drop down menu on the upper right.
  4. Use the Search boxes to find an activity or student from the Grade Items or Users lists.
